Chapter
I think I might be done with chapter one. How do you know when it is time to start a new chapter? Now seems to feel right. I am debating how to signify the change of chapters in my document. Should I open a new file? Should I leave a space, a page break? Really....these are the silly questions I ponder. Stop pondering and keep typing.

Use whatever works for you. I use a few dashed lines to signify a new thought-stream.
ReplyDeleteSince you're not carving each word into stone (I hope), you can edit and/or rehash everything that you write. Stories generally take a linear form when they are finished, but they are not necessarily born that way (they do not have to be written in a linear, consecutive manner). You can start "in medias res," like The Iliad.
Your chapter structure may become clearer after you've written more and reviewed everything together.
